“Michael” 12 years old, in our program for 2 years.
Siphe is an educated young man who was struggling to find work in South Africa. He had applied to many jobs and had big dreams to become a professional chef.
He applied to an ad on Facebook to work at a hotel in Dubai. He was contacted by the hotel and offered the job. He was told to send copies of his ID, his passport etc, and they would handle everything else, including his flights.
Siphe contacted staff of Archangels Project about his opportunity and they were immediately cautious.
Archangels Project uncovered a cruel scam targeting vulnerable youth in impoverished nations with promises of dream jobs at hotels or resorts in Dubai. The scheme lured eager young people into surrendering their documents, enabling traffickers to gain complete control upon their arrival abroad for either their bodies or their labour. Thanks to this vigilance, Siphe was spared from a dangerous trap.
Archangels Project was able to help Siphe change the trajectory of his life and give him the opportunity to obtain his dream job.
*Siphe’ graciously consented for us to use his story.
